We Compete As One Foundation took part in an expanded meeting of the Commission of Athletes of the Russian Olympic Committee (ROC) and members of the Commission of athletes of the National Olympic Committee (NOC) of Belarus. The event was held at the headquarters of the Russian Olympic Committee.
More than 200 athletes from Russia and Belarus, as well as heads of Russian sports and representatives of all-Russian sports federations gathered to discuss pressing and important issues. They discussed matters related to international sports in the context of geopolitical changes, as well as the development of a personal brand of athletes and their self-realization during and after the end of an active sports career.
Elena Rufova, CEO We Compete As One Foundation:
“Today we witnessed that the leaders of Russian sports do not abandon our Olympians. A major international-level sports program was already been planned for next year. The issues of motivation and morale of athletes in the current conditions are also being adressed. In our practice, we often come across requests for help from athletes who have absolutely no idea how to develop outside of a sports career. The We Compete As One Foundation is always ready to support and provide them with the necessary assistance in the areas of the Foundation’s work. Now more than ever, this support is crucial for athletes.”
Elena Rufova acted as a speaker in the discussion “Opportunities for the development and self-realization of athletes within and after the end of an active sports career.” She spoke about measures to support professional athletes, educational and career opportunities for the wards. She also announced the launch of the second stream of the educational program “Management and Marketing in Sports”, which was developed jointly with the Faculty of Global Processes of Lomonosov Moscow State University (MSU). Anyone Interested will be able to study in this stream. Lists of applicants are being formed now.
